Welcome to MyNaturowellness
If you're here, chances are you've been dealing with something that just won't go away. Maybe it's the bloating that shows up every single day. Or the brain fog that makes it hard to focus at work. Perhaps it's the fatigue that no amount of sleep seems to fix, or the anxiety that comes out of nowhere.
You've tried the traditional medical route. You've sat in waiting rooms, had your labs run, and been told everything looks "normal." But you don't feel normal. And deep down, you know something is off.
Here's what I want you to understand: your body is talking to you. That bloating, that headache, that rash on your skin—these aren't random annoyances you have to live with. They're messages. Your body is trying to tell you something needs to change.
Welcome to MyNaturowellness, where we listen to what your body is saying.
My Journey to Holistic Health
I didn't start in holistic healthcare because it was trendy. I started because of my own family's health struggles. Through trial and error and a lot of time, I discovered that holistic healthcare was the best route for us.
I explored and learned more about holistic health using supplements, herbs, and food as medicine. That experience catapulted me to go back to school after earning my bachelor's degree from the University of Central Florida. I pursued my doctorate from the New Eden School of Natural Health and Herbal Studies, where I really dove deep into understanding the body and holistic health.
I wanted to know why. Why is garlic so good for your body? Why is turmeric so anti-inflammatory? What is it actually doing in the body? And most importantly, how is it working so I can help more people?
That's why I opened MyNaturowellness in Bonita Springs. I work with patients dealing with everything from weight loss to hypertension to diabetes. But I focus specifically on digestive wellness, helping people who are dealing with Crohn's disease, IBS, or diverticulitis. Even patients who come to me and just say, "I've been bloated for a long time and I really can't find a solution."
It runs the gamut. It's more of a primary care approach where we can talk about all kinds of different things from mood to hormones to fertility and beyond.
Understanding the Difference: Traditional Naturopath vs. Primary Care Physician
This is key to understanding what we do at MyNaturowellness.
I'm a traditional holistic naturopath, which means we use food, herbs, and supplements to help your body get back to a state of homeostasis. That's where your body is able to thrive and heal itself, because your body is a self-healing organism. You cut yourself and what happens? You heal, right? Your body is able to heal given the right circumstances.
The difference between what I do and what happens when you go to the emergency room or see a primary care physician is this: they're practicing acute care. And they're amazing at it. If you broke your arm, don't come to me. That's where traditional Western medicine shines. Those pharmaceuticals, those drugs, all the interventions they do in acute and emergency situations are really, really remarkable.
But I work with chronic conditions. And that's where there's a big gap in Western medicine. Western medicine is great for acute issues, but they try to apply acute pharmaceutical approaches to chronic conditions. And chronic conditions come from our lifestyle, our diet, our mindset, what's going on in our household. It requires looking at the whole person.
That's where natural medicine and holistic naturopathy fill in the gap. We help return the body back to a state of homeostasis where it can then go on and heal itself.
We Actually Have Time for You
At MyNaturowellness, your first appointment is about an hour and a half. People are always surprised. "That's a long time. Are we going to use all that time?"
Yes. Because we're not just going to talk about what's happening to you today. We need to talk about what happened in the past. We need to discuss your future goals for yourself. What are your goals for your health? What are your goals for your life?
These initial intakes take longer because we really have to delve in and get to know each other. A lot of people come to me at first expecting me to just give them a vitamin or a supplement instead of a pharmaceutical. So we have to sort of change that mindset. There's no easy button. There's no magic pill.
I don't have magic pills. I don't have magic pots or herbs in my repertoire either. It's all about you taking your health into your own hands. I give you information about inflammation, about digestion, about how your body works. Then you take that information and say, "Okay, I'm going to make these changes in my life so I can have a better quality of life."
The follow-up appointment is then about an hour to review protocols and the plan we've created. Here's the plan. Here's how we're going to get there.
In a traditional Western model, doctors have about seven to ten minutes to spend with you. How much can they really learn about any traumas you've had or your previous health history in that amount of time? It's just not possible. And most traditional doctors get very few hours of nutritional education, whereas most of my educational background was focused on the nutritional side of things.
The Three Principles That Transform Health
At MyNaturowellness, healing comes down to three fundamental principles of holistic nutrition.
Principle One: Eliminate Sources of Inflammation
Think of inflammation as the root of chronic illness. Inflammation in your joints. Inflammation in your brain. Inflammation around your heart and in your arteries. Inflammation equals chronic illness.
The first principle of holistic nutrition is to eliminate and remove any inflammatory foods. Anything that's going to cause a reaction in the body. In our appointments, we get into what those foods are. What things do you really need to eliminate that are inflammatory for you specifically?
The first step is to stop adding more inflammation into your body.
Principle Two: Introduce Real, Living Nutrition
Your cells get full and inflamed. So we have to remove inflammation, stop adding more inflammation, and then add in good nutrition so your cells can do what they need to do. Adding in proper nutrition is going to really help reduce inflammation as well.
You're removing any obstacles to your success by removing the inflammation in step one. Then you're adding in great nutrition, and this is different for different people. Not everybody is one size fits all. Some people can't really have cruciferous vegetables. Some people should stay away from nightshades. Everybody is a little bit different.
But on the broad spectrum, we're adding in more food that's alive, more food that is real. If it comes in a bag or a box or from a pickup window, it probably has a lot of things that are not actually real foods. These are preservatives that coat the cells of those foods and make it hard for your body to break down, causing bloating, indigestion, nausea, and upset stomach.
Step one is a little bit more difficult, but step two is actually pretty fun because you get to learn all new recipes and different ways to eat. Some people really take the bull by the horns and love to learn.
Principle Three: The Body Must Cleanse Before Rebuilding
Think about that drawer in your kitchen, that one that gets full of stuff. Or that closet you have that's just full of things. What do you have to do before you can clean it? You have to take everything out. You have to cleanse before you can actually build anything new.
Part of the principles of holistic nutrition is cleansing and detoxing the body, particularly the liver and gallbladder. That's another step in the process.
We eliminate the inflammation, we add in the good nutrition, and then we cleanse the body.
What My Patients Experience
Once you've done these things over a period of time, you start feeling good. Your energy is good. You're having regular bowel movements without constipation. Your energy is consistent during the day.
What most people say is, "I'm sleeping so good. I can't believe I'm sleeping." That's a common side effect, a good side effect that they didn't expect.
A lot of my patients come for one thing and then they realize, "Oh wow, I didn't come to you for this pain in my joints when I wake up in the morning, but it's gone." Or "I didn't come to you because I was having these headaches, but now they're gone too."
Once you start working on adding in the nutrition, the body just starts to heal itself all over, systemically.
My Goal Is For You Not to Need Me
I tell my patients this from day one: you don't need me. What you need is information. Once I give you the information, you might come see me once a year if you want for some follow-up, but let's get you really, really healthy. Then you won't need me anymore. That's the goal.
I've been starting to partner with other physicians in the community who don't have the time to spend on lifestyle changes. If their patients are committed to making changes, we work together. The first step is commitment. You have to be ready to make a change. Then I help you on that journey. I give you the information, and you take it and run with it.
You're Not Beyond Healing
If you're someone who's been told your labs are normal but you don't feel normal, I see you. If you've tried multiple supplements and diets without lasting results, I understand your frustration. If you've been dismissed or made to feel like your symptoms are all in your head, I believe you.
Your body isn't broken. You weren't born with a bloating gene or a fatigue gene. These symptoms aren't a curse you have to live with. They're feedback, and once you learn how to listen and respond with the right support, your body can return to a state where it naturally thrives.
Welcome to MyNaturowellness. I'm here to help you feel like yourself again.
And you can.
